The Curran Apple Orchard is a 7-acre city park with over 200 apple trees open for tree adoption and public gleaning. It started in the 1950s as a hobby farm and eventually came to be owned by the city. The boys' homeschool group visited the orchard to pick apples and learn about orchard management. They learned how the orchard staff cares for bats and honeybees on the property and mitigates the destructive impact of apple magot flies and codling moths.
